Who we are

The Rural –Urban Development Initiatives (RUDI) is a local Non -governmental Organization
(NGO) registered in Tanzania Reg. ONGO/1933 with it headquarters in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.
RUDI has presence in 26 Districts in 14 Regions of Tanzania supporting over 100,000 farmers
organized in 400 groups.

Our Management

ABEL LYIMO
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Holds a Bachelor degree in Economics and Library Science, from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. As an economist and business advisor he has over 15 years experience in advising business associations and agribusinesses SME’s including over 10 years experience in managing agricultural projects and agribusinesses. He has worked for the Ministry of Finance, Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), Techno Serve and DAI PESA as Associations and Business Advisor and currently the CEO for RUDI . His expertise lies in mobilizing, and providing support to associations including organization and formation of business and producer associations, creating and strengthening associations, developing strategic plans, providing market, credit, and input linkages and assisting associations to identify policy issues which prevent their members from operating efficiently in a free market economy. He is also a certified trade tutor/counselor for the International Trade Centre (ITC), based in Geneva, and a founder member of the Centre for International Business Development Services (CIBDS). LAMECK KIKOKA
DIRECTOR

holds a Masters degree in Agricultural economics from University of London and has attended several management and planning courses. As a RUDI Director, he has over 20 years experience in management of both public and private enterprises. After working as a farm manager for 4 years he worked in cashew development for 6 years as head of Commercial Services Unit of Cashew Improvement Programme (CIP), funded by World Bank, responsible for input supply, marketing and credit to small holder farmers. He worked as Agribusiness Marketing Advisor for 4 years with Techno Serve, establishing marketing linkages between small holder producers and commercial businesses. He has also worked for 2 years with Development Alternatives Inc. (DAI) to implement a Private Enterprise Support Project (PESA) and funded by USAID, as a marketing advisor using sub sector market development approach and later as a project coordinator. His latest engagements up to 2007 were SNV Tanzania, the Netherlands development organization as a senior advisor in private sector development. Currently he is the Director of RUDI responsible for strategy, compliance, quality control and growth of the organization.

MR. RONALD H. MSHANA
TREASURER & FINANCE DIRECTOR

A professional Accountant holding CPA part 1 and Advanced Diploma in Accountancy (IFM) qualifications. He has over 19 years experience in financial management of both public, private enterprises and donor funded projects. After working as an Accountant for TWICO for 7 years, He also worked in HESOMA (Irish Aid Programme) for 6 years as Head of Finance department funded by Irish government to Ministry of Healthy on distance education and Audit support unit to 156 Healthy Institutions under MOH. He also worked as senior Accountant at the Ministry of Science and Technology and Higher Education to its Institute, The Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology as a head of Accounts Department responsible for Institute’s budget RUDI Profile 2019 preparations, supervising accounts and stores departments. He also worked as a project accountant for DAI PESA, a USAID funded project for two (2) years. Ronald is the treasurer and financial manager for RUDI.

Our Goal

Improving income and employment opportunities for micro-small enterprises(MSEs), including farms, through market links and information, policy change strengthened associations, business skills training and SACCOS’s development.
